Inside Macintosh: Telephony /
Chapter 1 - Introduction to Telephony on the Macintosh / Telephone Manager Initialization Reference

Data Structures

This section describes the telephone record, which provides information about a particular telephone tool. See the chapter "Telephone Terminals" for a description of the telephone terminal record.

You need to use the TELNewWithResult function (or the TELNew function) to create a telephone record for each terminal your application uses. For example, if your application is designed to run on a Macintosh computer equipped with both a GeoPort Telecom Adapter and an ISDN card, you need to create a telephone record for each. Because each telephone record independently describes how communications are to take place over a given terminal, your application can communicate over both terminals simultaneously.
